VA Benefits: Pending Payments

Pending Payment Compliance Policy

In accordance with Title 38 U.S. Code 3679(e), The College of Idaho adopts the following provisions for any student using U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) educational benefits under Chapter 31 or Chapter 33, when payment to the College is pending from the VA.

The College of Idaho will not:

  • Prevent the student’s enrollment;
  • Assess late fees or penalties;
  • Require the student to obtain additional or alternative funding; or
  • Deny the student access to classes, campus resources, or other institutional facilities available to students who have satisfied their financial obligations.

Student Responsibilities

To remain eligible for these protections, students may be required to:

  • Provide the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or Statement of Benefits from the VA by the first day of the term;
  • Submit a written request for certification to the School Certifying Official; and
  • Supply any additional information needed to properly certify enrollment, as outlined in other College policies.
