Federal Student Aid Privacy Policy
Information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a student's financial aid record is protected by federal law. The College of Idaho will not disclose FAFSA information or other protected financial aid information to anyone other than the student unless disclosure is permitted under applicable federal law.
With the student's written authorization, the College may discuss or release financial aid information to designated third parties, such as parents, spouses, or other individuals identified by the student. The authorization must meet applicable federal requirements for the release of FAFSA and financial aid information, clearly identify the individual(s) to whom information may be released, and remain on file with the College.
Protected financial aid information includes, but is not limited to, FAFSA application status, Student Aid Index (SAI), financial need, federal aid eligibility, financial aid awards, and other information derived from a student's FAFSA or maintained as part of the student's financial aid record.
The College may also disclose financial aid information without the student's consent when permitted or required by federal law, including disclosures to school officials with a legitimate educational interest or to federal and state agencies authorized to administer student financial aid programs.
Students wishing to authorize the release of their financial aid information to another individual should complete the Consent for Release of Financial Aid.
All institutions participating in federal financial aid programs are required to provide enrolled and potential students and current and prospective employees with available consumer information.
